A planned multi-unit expansion in the Great Lakes region that will add 2,200 MW of clean energy capacity to transform the regional energy landscape.
The Northern Energy Hub is an ambitious multi-unit development in the Great Lakes region designed to add 2,200 MW of clean, reliable power to the regional grid. The project is in the early development stage, with site characterization, permitting, and community engagement underway.
The hub is being designed as a dual-unit advanced light water reactor station, incorporating lessons from the most efficient new-build programs worldwide. It will create thousands of construction jobs over the build period and support the region’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
This project is designed to avoid millions of tonnes of CO₂ equivalent each year compared with equivalent fossil-fuel generation. Detailed environmental performance metrics, including emissions avoidance, water stewardship and land-use commitments, will be published in our annual sustainability disclosures as the project progresses.
The project supports hundreds of skilled, long-term careers and generates substantial regional economic activity through payroll, local supply contracts, property taxes and workforce development partnerships. Final figures are updated as construction and operations milestones are reached.
