The Central Plains Reactor is a planned advanced light water reactor in Kansas that will deliver 950 MW of reliable, carbon-free electricity to the central United States. The project is in the planning stage, with site evaluation and preliminary licensing activities underway.
The reactor will incorporate proven technology and modern construction methods to deliver competitive economics and a fast build schedule. It is expected to provide long-term, stable employment and economic opportunity for rural communities across the region.
This project is designed to avoid millions of tonnes of CO₂ equivalent each year compared with equivalent fossil-fuel generation. Detailed environmental performance metrics, including emissions avoidance, water stewardship and land-use commitments, will be published in our annual sustainability disclosures as the project progresses.
The project supports hundreds of skilled, long-term careers and generates substantial regional economic activity through payroll, local supply contracts, property taxes and workforce development partnerships. Final figures are updated as construction and operations milestones are reached.
